Bio Marine Technologies' primary mission is restoring shoreline bio-productivity previously diminished by property development and construction. Miles of estuarine ecosystems essential to the breeding and nurturing of marine fish have been lost to shoreline armoring. Historically mangrove forests with their complex tangle of prop roots provided juvenile fish with shelter from predation and a source of accumulated nutrient. The studies detailed here examine the effectiveness of recreating the beneficial mechanical properties of mangrove roots, in locations where property development prevents the restoration of original mangrove habitat systems.

The solutions studied here are not intended to provide replacement opportunities for existing mangroves or alternatives for mangrove restoration. Rather the mangrove mitigation devices are designed to be reasonable enhancements to locations where mangrove restoration is not feasible.
